The process of Preparation, Support of Network, Career Promotion for the Juvenile Delinquent

The purpose of this research is to study the operations of Ban Pranee Juvenile Vocational Training Center in respect of career promotion for the juveniles, preparation process for them, and employment opportunities offered by the private sector. This study is qualitative, document-based, and reliant on field visits for data collection, specifically, to Ban Pranee Juvenile Vocational Training Center. Twenty three samples were divided into three groups: direct operators, support workers, and representatives from the private sectors offering career opportunities to children and youths. It was found that the Center had obviously supported the juveniles to acquire a career with two procedure divisions: a committee of professionals and multidisciplinary expertises; and a career plan at the orientation stage providing a process of treatment and rehabilitation in the juveniles. There was a process to prepare them physically, mentally, and socially for returning to their families and societies, with a diverse range of vocational trainings, while the family participation was also focused. Social workers played a role in encouraging social support, both in terms of case-based management and coordination for effective children and youth referrals. At the same time, the private sectors provided the juveniles with social supports in forms of internship, work, adaptation, and living. The research revealed that the main obstacle was the curriculum, inconsistent with the labor market. Therefore, there should be a study conducted on the labor market trends, including the aptitude of the juveniles in order to adjust the format of vocational training. Direct operators and support workers were positive about the juvenile preparation process: considering the trial living in the real society as tangible benefits, enabling them to truly adjust the care direction for its suitability.
