Factors Affecting in Selecting for Pharmaceutical Purchasing Decision of Pharmacy Entrepreneurs in Bangkok

Abstract

          The purposes of this research article were: 1) to study the factors affecting pharmacy entrepreneurs’ decisions in pharmaceutical purchases in Bangkok; and 2) to compare the factors affecting the decisions to purchase pharmaceuticals of the pharmacy entrepreneurs in Bangkok, classified by entrepreneurial characteristics. The instrument used for collecting data was a questionnaire. The sample group consisted of 363 pharmacy entrepreneurs in Bangkok. The statistical methods used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test (One-Way ANOVA) and pairwise comparison using Scheffe method.

           The results of the research found that the factors affecting the decision on pharmaceutical product purchases of the pharmacy entrepreneurs in Bangkok overall; it was at high level. With consideration of each aspect, it was found that at a high level in all aspects. The aspect with the highest average ranked first was the product; the aspect with the lowest average was marketing promotion, respectively.

           The hypothesis testing result showed that entrepreneurs graduating from the faculty or different academic disciplines decided to purchase pharmaceutical supplies differently. There were different factors impacting on purchasing decisions: with statistical significance at 0.05 level, competitive situations in different areas, different sales styles and shop pharmacists at different times. There were no different factors affecting the purchasing decision.
