A Relationship between Human Resource Management and Organizational Efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: (1) to study human resource management of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas; (2) to study an organizational efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas; (3) to find a relationship between human resource management and organizational efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas; and (4) to analyze human resource management influencing organizational efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas. The samples in this study were 321 personnel of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas. The instrument used to collect data was a research questionnaire. Statistics used in this research consisted of Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, Correlation and Multiple Regression Analysis.

The research results were found that:

1) The human resource management of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas, in total, were at high level. In particular, training and development had the highest mean value, followed by recruitment and selection, performance appraisal and promotion, and benefits and compensation.

2) The organizational efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas, in total, were at high level. In particular, operation management had the highest mean value, followed by personnel management and material management.

3) The correlation coefficient between human resource management and organizational efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas was positive at the 0.01 level of significance.

4) Human resource management had an influence on organizational efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangkok Metropolitan Areas. Training and development had the highest influence on organizational efficiency, followed by benefits and compensation, performance appraisal and promotion, and recruitment and selection.
